VISA interchange fee update for low value consumer domestic transactions in Italy

What’s changing?

Because of a supplementary domestic regulation in Italy, a new decreased Interchange rate will apply for all Domestic Consumer transactions under the value of EUR 5, -

What does the change mean?

  • The new rate for Visa Immediate Debit and Prepaid will be 18 basis points (currently 20 bps).
  • The new rate for Visa Credit and Deferred Debit will be 27 basis points (currently 30 bps).

How will this affect you?

Visa will update the domestic consumer interchange fees for all transactions below EUR 5, -. No changes will be made to domestic consumer interchange fees for transactions of other values.
